Excellent atmosphere and food. The Roo platter was delicious as well as the specials on the board. The Jazz songs sung by the waitresses were fantastic and it was nice to see that they were enjoying it too. Would love to go back.

Silence is golden apparently. Awkward silences, not so much. There’s nothing more unnerving than a dreaded awkward silence during a first date. When you are trying to impress and want to avoid turning into a tongue twisted fool, it always helps to have something unusual embedded into your surroundings. For instant conversation starters try one of these novel restaurants. Awkward moments not allowed…..
The Naked Turtle. Singing waitresses, live jazz music, a piano bar, a conservatory and the infamous ‘Roo Platter’, which encompasses kangaroo, ostrich and crocodile. This is one of London’s liveliest and most entertaining venues and goes out of it’s way to both stun you and serve you. A whole host of talented jazz singers await, ready to entertain the crowds with some incredible live performances- if your date has nothing to say after that , then your probably best not seeing them again, eh?

This place is great to go to for an intimate first date, as the singing waitresses and quirky nature of this venue give both of you plenty to chat about.
Also it is ideal for birthdays and partys as the singing waitresses went over and sang happy birthday in perfect harmonies. We went at the weekend and had a treat as at the end of the night as all the girls got up and sang together big show numbers to much applause from the whole restaurant.
The food also is much better than you expect from most other music venue with an anglo french theme but also had a quirky dish called a Roo Plater with Kangaroo crocodile and Ostrich meat on.
We had the platter to share for our starter and then my date had the fillet of beef while I tried the special of fillet of seabass, both cooked to perfection.
For deserts we both shared a creme brulee and again was top noch.
The wine list appeared to be quite extensive and the staff fairly knowledgable. We also had cocktails to start a “naked passion” with mango, passion fruit and vodka and a tequila and mango drink called a “mango bongo”.
This was a great date both in the company and a fabulous venue.
